Leftfest 2012
Not so far out of left field we find singer songwriter Neil Cribbs trying to not only make a difference through his music but also trying to make a difference in the way that music is made. Rather than just drum up donations via online projects or begging at the highway off ramps, Cribbs put together a lineup of local artists who share in his vision. The Leftfest event includes great music, camping, barbecue, and is a great escape for the music lover and his family.
As Paris Luna posted on Facebook,
“It’s the only festival of its kind through a grassroots movement of artists and community supporting another artist! You guys come out and camp with us, hang with us, and enjoy some amazing acts, all to help out another artist!!! Tickets are on sale now, and the best thing about this is my fans with kids can come enjoy as well!!!!”
In addition to Neil Cribbs and Paris Luna all the artists set to play are listed at http://www.leftfest.com and include:
The Leftfest website explains that the term Leftfest is based on the upcoming Neil Cribbs 2012 album release To the Left. The concept of taking things “to the left” is not political, only human. In our busy lives we try desperately to file events and occurrences into a tunnel, bearing what we deem to be the “right way.” Often times we become so immersed in making things “right” for ourselves that we often fail in our endeavors. Neil’s song “To the Left” is simply a statement that there is ALWAYS another road in life. For those of us pushing to make things right, perhaps there is another opportunity “To the Left.”
The idea sounds simple. And, of course, one cannot omit the thoughts of Frost’s Road Not Taken. That may be an influence, but, nevertheless, it’s important sometimes to heed the words of musicians and artists as there exists and endless world of possibility out there for the artist and her pen. The Leftfest for 2012 will aid in raising funds for Neil’s newest album.
Can’t make the festival but still want to help the Cause? Then visit http://www.neilcribbs.com/ and choose from one of the eight donation tiers ranging from $10 to $5000, all of which include a copy of the forthcoming release so it feels like investing in your own CD collection. Neil Cribbs really embodies the independent and tenacious spirit that we all need to keep pushing on for our dreams.
