CD Review: 3 Pill Morning – Black Tie Love Affair

3 Pill Morning’s Black Tie Love Affair brings to life the sound of passion and hard rock with an edge

Review by Danielle Boise

3 Pill Morning was signed just this past spring with the New York based A2Z/Page 2 Music/eOne label. The combination of faith from the label and the dynamic powerhouse that is 3 Pill Morning gave the Minneapolis-based hard rock quartet the ability to craft their label debut CD, Black Tie Love Affair, which was released on July 17. With producer Jon King, who has worked with greats like Augustana, Throwing Gravity and Darling Parade, at the helm, the band really couldn’t go wrong or ask for better results than that of Black Tie Love Affair; the entire album brings to life what passion and hard rock with an edge sounds like.

The album kicks off with the high-energy track “Rain,” and it stays steady through the 10 tracks, with a cohesive sound that is very reminiscent of the early days of My Chemical Romance.

3 Pill Morning even included “Loser,” the song that earned them their wings, by gaining national attention for being on the Active Rock Top 100 for over five months. With the driven percussion and guitar riffs that match Jeff Stebbins’ firey voice perfectly, each song on Black Tie Love Affair deserves a listen.

Seeing 3 Pill Morning perform live is a treat. The band has style, stage presence and the talent to be in the spotlight. For more information on 3 Pill Morning, visit www.3pillmorning.com.
