Monday Oct. 8: Diego Garcia Live at Variety Playhouse
Diego Garcia (of 2000s band Elefant) opens for Italian artist Jovannotti on Monday October 8 at Variety Playhouse for an evening of acoustic, romantic modern music with Argentine influences. Garcia emerged as an indie solo artist in 2011 with the lovely LP Laura, named after his wife. Lush string arrangements and delicate Spanish guitars led Garcia’s single “You Were Never There,” co-written by Dhani Harrison (George Harrison’s son), to be featured as Starbucks ‘Pick of the Week’ last year, marking one of the only times Starbucks ever selected a Latino artist for the special opportunity. Laura had an impressive response from radio, hitting #1 at influential WXPN in Philadelphia, #4 at tastemaker station KCRW in Los Angeles as well as a top 10 album of the year on iTunes and NPR. The album’s success spawned live performances on Sirius XM radio’s ‘The Loft,’ NPR’s ‘World Café,’ and NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk’ concert series.

Tuesday Oct. 9: Jack White at The Fox
Blunderbuss is the first solo album for Jack White, a man who has worked with some of the greats and invalided himself in multiple bands. October 9, he will be at the beautiful, historic Fox Theater. This show stands to be a delight to the ears and eyes. http://www.foxtheatre.org/
